If you got spiders in your house Ceylon Cinnamon leaf oil will escort them out. Cinnamon Oil is a non toxic way to get spiders to move out. While Cinnamon Oil will not kill spiders, the powerful aroma of Ceylon Cinnamon Leaf will make them flee. Of course if you spray 100% Cinnamon it will kill the spiders, but why waste your Cinnamon Oil and when you can use a fraction of Cinnamon Oil diluted to 1% to get them to move. Cinnanon is also use useful to repel most other insects too, especially ants.

AUTUMN IS SPIDER MATING SEASON

Autumn (Fall) is the spider mating season and your house offers a cozy place with food and water. The female spin intricate webs while the males move around looking for a mate. Most spiders are harmless and rather useful to get rid of small insects in the house but a few can be dangerous or freak out people especially when they crawl into bed with you. So the trick is to clean up the house and outdoor area first and then spray the diluted Cinnamon Oil. If you are lazy you can just spray Cinnamon Oil but when you eventually clean up certain areas later, you have to spray the areas again. Better to clean up first, spray and just relax.

CLEAN UP OUTDOOR FIRST

Start by cleaning up your outdoor area. Pressure wash (you can rent a pressure washer from a hardware store like Home Depot) your patio, entrance like doors and windows and immediate surrounding area around the house.

Clean up sheds, wood piles. compost heaps, storage boxes and trim branches that touch the house. Cleaning up the out door area first makes the Cinnamon Oil more effective. With a clean slate you are more likely to deter the spiders. If you spray with the cob web already in place they can still hide and worse flee to your house faster.

Once you have cleaned up the outside, use a pump spray to mix the Ceylon Cinnamon leaf oil and spray around doorways, windows and other entry points to the house. Then spray outdoor storage boxes, sheds, planter boxes, patio umbrellas, fences and any place the spiders can hide.

NEXT CLEAN INSIDE THE HOUSE

Finally sweep and vacuum the whole house. Add a few drops of Ceylon Cinnamon Oil to your mopping liquid and mop floors. Make a separate water and Ceylon Cinnamon leaf Oil solution (diluted to 1% again) and spray inside cupboards. Maybe it is also time to clean and spray your closets and kitchen cabinets too. Not to worry, Cinnamon oil is food safe and edible for humans. Insects just don't like the aroma of Cinnamon, that's all. Clean and spray under the refrigerator too as well as air vents, the basement and other cluttered areas. Don't forget to clean cob webs on the ceiling.

INGREDIENTS

DIRECTIONS

  1. If you have gallon spray bottle like the one from Home Depot we got, mix 8 tsp of Ceylon Cinnamon leaf Oil with 1 gallon of water. But a smaller hand held spray bottle will also do. You don't need a gallon in most cases.

  2. Shake well and spray the outside of the house. First start with all window areas, doorways and other entry points into the house. Then spray around various hiding places such as fences, patios decks, underneath patio tables, on umbrellas, storage boxes or any warm moist area they could hide.

  3. Then move indoors and spray and wipe down under the kitchen and bathroom sinks

  4. Mop your floor with Cinnamon - Add a few drops of Cinnamon leaf oil in the same ratio of 1% to your your floor mop cleaner and mop. Don't put too much. More than 1% Cinnamon Oil might stain or burn wood floors. Just a slight hint of Cinnamon Leaf Oil is sufficient.

  5. You can go further and diffuse our Ceylon Cinnamon Bark Oil to the whole house to discourage insects. We use the Ceylon Cinnamon leaf Oil for spraying and mopping primarily because it is much cheaper. But the Bark Oil diffused with an ultrasonic diffuser has much more refined aroma for humans.

OTHER METHODS TO DISCOURAGE SPIDERS

  1. Pepper mint oil and Orange Oil also discourage spiders. But we think Cinnamon Oil is nicer. OK we are biased. We want to sell the stuff. Besides the aroma of Ceylon Cinnamon Bark Oil is quite outstanding. The Leaf Oil is a little harsher but for spraying that is cost effective.

  2. Clean and vacuum the house – At the end of summer start vacuuming the whole from top to (ceiling areas) to bottom (under bed, sink), closets, sofas and other place they could hide.

  3. Remove Cob webs - Remove spider webs regularly and be sure to check the corners of the ceiling, picture frames and mirrors.

  4. Block gaps between walls, windows, pipework and under the doors which helps prevent entry.

  5. Remove sheltering sites such as firewood piles, garden bags and clean out storage sheds.

  6. Deter all insects - Insects are food for spider. And don't leave food out. It may attract others inspects which is food for spiders. Fortunately Cinnamon deters many others inspects but don't leave the doors and open open in fall for insects to come in. Use screen mesh if you must.

WHY CEYLON CINNAMON

Unlike ordinary Cassia Cinnamon you find in the stores, Ceylon Cinnamon has low Coumarin levels, so it won't damage your liver, especially if you are a regular Cinnamon tea drinker. Besides Ceylon Cinnamon is mild, yet slightly sweeter. It is not spicy like store bought Cassia Cinnamon, but has hints of cloves and citrus with wonderful subtle aroma.

Ceylon Cinnamon is subtle and adds to create a more complex flavors. You would never know there is Ceylon Cinnamon in this dish, unlike Cassia Cinnamon which tends to be harsh and immediately makes its presence felt and often ruins the recipe.
